Key Workshop Concepts:

Children must learn to control their emotions before they can recognize others’ feelings.

The more aware children are of their stress signs the better they are at self-regulation.

Self-Regulation is teachable.

A child’s self-regulation ability is a better predictor of success than IQ.

Children’s Workshop:  1-2-3 Emotions and Me

“it has become clear that emotions underlie the majority of the stress we experience, influence our decisions, provide the motivation for our actions, and create the textures that determine our quality of life.”

Invest in your child’s future. Raising awareness of the feelings your child experiences allows them to recognize, acknowledge and deal with their own emotions. Children, who are equipped with tools at an early age, can better self-manage when their emotions overwhelm them. A child’s Emotional Quotient (EQ) can be more important than their IQ in determining not only academic achievement but success in a job and life in general.

This children’s workshop was developed after observing that so many adults have difficulties identifying and naming their own feelings, a seemingly cultural consequence. Contrary to this norm, research shows that individuals who are in touch with and can self-manage their emotions dramatically increase their health and financial stability as an adult.

According to Dr. Rollin McCraty, without the development of emotional stability during the formative period, coherent mental and cognitive development is compromised.

This workshop is designed for children ages 6 – 9 and involves an adult and child pair.

Adult participation is required at a one to one ratio and will focus on raising awareness of emotions in you, your child and in others. You and your child will learn simple, fun, heart-focused techniques to support and promote positive internal feelings.
