What Do I need to know/do BEFORE coming for a session?

A few notes to ensure you have a relaxing appointment.

For New Clients:

If you have any electronic implants, a pacemaker or other electronic devices. Please check with your medical Doctor BEFORE scheduling an appointment. Tell your Doctor, that we would be happy to work on the HeartMath Heart Rate Variability (HRV) system to help you strengthen and support your resilience to stress. For your safety, we will not use any other system.

Women, if you think you could be pregnant, it’s best to reschedule until you have confirmed you are not. If you are pregnant, we will be happy to work on both you and your baby after your deliver.

For all others:

Please come a few minutes early there will be some forms for you to fill out, read and sign.

Wear comfortable clothing.

You will need to remove any metal, piercings, watches, chains (unless it is an item you never take off like a wedding band, etc.).  Belts with large buckles or lots of metal should not be worn, zippers on pants are ok. The less metal the less interference.

Please leave cell phones and electronic devices in the car or turn them off completely (no vibrate or other mode). This is to minimize external electronic or electromagnetic interference to ensure we get the best reading and feedback possible.

Your body will receive feedback more efficiently if you are hydrated. Please drink plenty of water the night and morning before your appointment to ensure you are well hydrated. If you are drinking distilled or reverse osmosis water, this type of water is usually void of minerals. (Google dangers of reverse osmosis or distilled water). Our nervous system needs minerals to transmit nerve impulses. Talk with me about it or Google trace minerals. There is a restroom available.

Also please try to avoid caffeine, chocolate, tea or caffeinated sodas the day of your appointment. This interferes with your body’s ability to relax. The more relaxed you are the better your results.

Please bring a list of any medications you are taking.

You will be expected to pay at the end of your appointment. For your convenience we do accept cash, checks, or credit cards.

In addition to all of the above, these additional guidelines will help to ensure a trouble free scan when we are doing Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Scans:

Avoid heavy aerobic exercise for at least one-hour before your session.

No coffee, tea, or other caffeinated beverages within one-hour of the appointment.

No cigarettes within 30 minutes before the appointment.

No heavy meals within 1.5 hours of your appointment.

I am looking forward to your session and the opportunity to partner with you to assist you and your body on your journey to a better quality of life!

For Follow-Up Appointments:

Just a few reminders:

Let me know ahead of time whether there are any special needs you wish to focus on during this appointment so I can incorporate them into out session. An example might be: “I still have pain in my lower back”, or “my stomach has been upset or bloated since our last session”.

Reminder to bring your notebook or journal (if applicable).

Remember to come well hydrated. So start now…

Remember to wear comfortable clothing.

Remember you will need to remove any metal (unless it is an item you never take off like a wedding band, etc.).  Belts with large buckles or clothes with lots of metal should not be worn, zippers on pants are ok. The less metal the less interference.

Please leave cell phones and electronic devices in the car or turn them off completely (no vibrate or other mode). There is less stress for you and less EMF interference when they are off.

Remember … to get the greatest benefit from your sessions, this program requires commitment and a willingness to explore and change. You will benefit coming each session, but there is much more potential if you combine stress management and biofeedback with your willingness to make positive changes in your lifestyle, explore, forgive, identify hidden feelings or emotions, examine limiting beliefs, recognize negative self talk, and begin to listen to your body’s many whispers or screams for example.

I am here to help you navigate, you are driving the car!

Biofeedback and stress management are about consciously taking responsibility for your health and your life.  Making changes, being flexible, exploring, and learning. I am honored to have the opportunity to partner with and support you during that journey.

I am looking forward to seeing you again and to assisting you and your body as you pursue a better quality of life!

In harmony and good health,

              Loraine McIntyre MS, CBS, CSMS
